Girls@Play forms an important part of the TWF's early history, for without it's formation, it is very likely the much-praised TWF Women's Division would not exist.
Girls@Play was originally formed by two girls, Atomically Cool Cat (who later changed the Cs to Ks) and Champozina, the younger sisters of FX members, Mr. BIG and Red Dragon respectively. The two campaigned tirelessly for many months for the TWF to introduce a Women's Championship. The two ladies fought many battles with the ladies of well-known TWF faction, Team EV. The brotherly duo of Brownie and Blonde Man frequently had valets accompany them to the ring. Although the two biggest names of which, Alice Lee and Miss Emma would later become famous for their Triple Threat Iron Man match with Marz, their early battles would see various combinations of ladies facing off against each other. These battles were ignored by some, but to many, it was seen as the best women's wrestling outside of Japan. It was proven that the girls could hack it with males.
After much persuasion, on October 1, 2000 at the King of the Ring pay-per-view, TWF women's wrestling arrived. TWF Chairman Mr. Edwards opened the show and announced he had a new TWF Women's Championship in his hands and he invited who he deemed the three best women wrestlers down to the ring for a match. There, Alice Lee, Miss Emma and Atomically Cool Cat made their way down and fought in a confusing Best 2-out-of-3 Falls match that was much clearer than it would seem, as Atomically Cool Cat scored both falls to become the first champion. Cool Cat was on top of the world, finally winning the title. She would go on to have the longest title reign in TWF history, clocking in over 623 days until she was defeated.
The defeat would come by someone who had their eyes set on her from many months before. Weeks after finally winning the championship she craved to have created, Atomically Cool Cat would find new adversaries appeared, in the form of The BoyZ. The faction brought with it new females, the most established of which would be the then girlfriend of Hawke, Falcon. Falcon brought her own friends with her, and along with the Team EV ladies, who after losing one, gained another in Hayley Holder, the women's division would have many battles but one winner, Atomically Cool Cat. After much less build-up than anyone anticipated, Atomically Cool Cat and Falcon faced off for the first time at Easter HeAT 2001, with Atomically Cool Cat coming out on top, with assistance from Champozina in a No Holds Barred match. Cool Cat needed her brother's help to pick up the victory a month later at WrestleMania II, and Champozina continued to assist the champion for the duration of their reign when needed. The two most noted occasions where in the 6-Women Steel Cage Match at PayBack 2001, which is regarded as the pre-cursor to the famous House of Pain match, and at Easter HeAT 2002, where Kool Kat famously won the Hardcore Invitational after clocking Hayley Holder with a frying pan.
Things, however, were changing. Falcon managed to irritate her boyfriend and the two had a shocking split in the early part of 2002. During one memorable episode of Grit BasH, Falcon was appointed guest referee for a match between Atomically Kool Kat and BCW's Rachael, who had emerged as a serious threat to Atomically Kool Kat's title. As BCW beat down the referee in revenge for her boyfriend, Atomically Kool Kat tried to help out, she was beaten down. Suddenly, Champozina hit the ring with a new arrival… Libra. Atomically Kool Kat's cousin had finally arrived and delivered her first Horoscope. This set up a 6-Woman Tag Team Match at Against All Odds 2002: Girls@Play's first match as a trio against Rachael, Lisa and Natalie of BCW. Mr. BIG announced Falcon would be the referee, but at the match's conclusion, Falcon revealed she had been in cahoots with Hawke all along, and Rachael ended Atomically Kool Kat's mammoth reign.
Atomically Kool Kat would never be the same after this controversial decision, but Biggie was powerless as Falcon was the appointed match official and he could not overturn her decision. So, it stood, but to make up for the horrific mistake he had in appointing Falcon, Biggie booked a fatal four way for the TWF's Pay-Per-View in the US, Zero Tolerance. Libra would pick up the victory and beat Rachael, Hayley Holder and Falcon to become champion, months after her debut. At Total Chaos later that month however, Atomically Kool Kat would win back her championship.
Girls@Play at this point, however would take a back seat as Libra shone in the limelight and Champozina did not partake much in TWF action. Champozina was still determined to make an impact and in December 2002, challenged her friend Atomically Kool Kat for the championship. The two had a classic match at PayBack 2002, which the champion Atomically Kool Kat won, but Champozina would later leave the TWF and has not made a full-time return.
Meanwhile, it was left to the two cousins to continue the legacy G@P had begun. Atomically Kool Kat and Libra had never always seen eye-to-eye and the cousins would bicker and bitch constantly during and after matches. After Atomically Kool Kat ditched her brother to stand at Stephen Dimmock's side in March 2003, Libra disagreed with her cousin's move and stood by Biggie. Libra would later win her second TWF Women's Championship by defeating Falcon at Cyberslam. Atomically Kool Kat would return to the TWF after being driven from it in the wake of leaving Dimmock prior to Cyberslam and would again be on the separate side of the fence to Libra. But, towards the end of 2003, the two re-united and seemed to be reading from the same page. But, in January 2004, Atomically Kool Kat upset the odds when she defeated Libra, revealing an alliance with Luke Baird. The fans, and Libra turned against her once more. After teaming a few times in mid-2004, the duo then separated once more as Atomically Kool Kat revealed an alliance with Rhys Hopkins. Girls@Play would remain on hiatus until the TWF's last pay-per-view before it's lengthy disappearance, as Libra would finally ger her chance at Chamera, the new conqueror of the TWF Women's Division. Libra would not be victorious in the match, but Chamera delivered a heinous post-match beat down. Through the crowd came Atomically Kool Kat, and it was speculated she would join Chamera, but she instead delivered the Feliner to the champion and rescued her cousin.
Although it's impact has been muted in recent years, G@P was an influential stable in the TWF and is likely to be remembered as such. It's formation was important in establishing a serious women's division in the TWF, one the company is extremely proud of.
