Team EV

Team EV History

It wouldn't quite be the same if Team EV weren't around in the TWF, would it? In fact, the Team EV have been around since day 1.
The boys's past has been rather unsettled themselves. Blonde Man and Brownie moved to Wales 2 years prior to the TWF opening, and are originally from England. This has not got the better of them. The two became critically acclaimed for being a very good in-ring duo and gaining the respect of many fans. They began their TWF careers in a move which was stupid at first, but in the long run an excellent idea, by taking on the Z-Pack; The Red Dragon and Mr BIG. That war shot both teams to fame, and 2 of those guys to superstardom (Biggie and Marz). In fact, it was in a match with Team EV at CeNsOrEd 2000 that saw people cheer the Z-Pack, and Team EV gave an admirable performance that night at a rather forgettable Pay-Per-View.
The brother began getting such good acclaim, that ladies were after them. Shortly after debuting, both men had 2 valets. Blonde Man had Alice Lee and Miss Amy, whilst Brownie received Miss Emma and Hayley Holder. Controversial issues backstage saw Miss Amy leave Team EV and the TWF altogether. But the brothers coped. Blonde Man's biggest victory to this day was a controversial victory over Mr. BIG in a Tables Match, which was a sort of shock to everyone. 2 days later, Biggie won back the title in front of a home crowd to the delight of 'Brackliarians'.
Team EV engaged in a short feud with DX, and for the first time, the crowd cheered them. But when Blonde Man was defeated by Biggie, the two old enemies reunited in a classic at King of the Ring 2000. Shortly after KOTR, Team EV saw the inclusion of a third male, Steven Jenkins. Stevo was a very popular guy and gained the heart of Hayley Holder, who to this day is still his valet.
The three men travelled together and have won many titles. Blonde Man became the first man to become both UK and World Heavyweight Champion (now the TWF World Championship), and is also a Tag Team Champion. Brownie has also won the Tag Team Championship, as well as The Light Heavyweight Championship and Hardcore Championship. Jenkins, in his short time with the TWF has made an impact, winning The European and Hardcore Championships, and famously pinning The Vamp whilst he was sleeping on a settee during an episode of Raw.
But the most shocking moment in the faction’s long and storied history didn't happen so long ago. Brownie had been feeling vengeful towards his brother as he became a breakout singles star. Brownie wasn't feeling himself backstage and was seen to be hanging around with different people. In fact, on an episode of Nitro, he was seen smoking a cigarette with the bPa's Lisa and Natalie. The crowning moment, literally came at King of the Ring 2002. Brownie won a match with Adam Taylor to become King of The Ring and made his way to the throne. He proceeded to nail his brother with the throne and the bPa beat down Team EV. Brownie had joined the bPa! The crowd was shocked and booed the bPa louder than ever to the back. It took both The Z-Pack and Girls@Play to get rid of the bPa that night, and when Brownie uttered those infamous words of "Screw you both, BITCHES", everyone knew the old Team EV had died a horrible death that night.
This separated the two for just under a year, when before a Stunned crowd at The Bridgend Dome, the brothers re-united at TWF Summer Break, beating up the man who got Brownie to turn, Sumo Samurai. Team EV was back, and with a vengeance. Blonde Man continued to dominate the TV Division, holding his championship for over 120 days before losing in controversial fashion to Jason Davies. However, having chased Davies for so long, at Deadly MindGames 2004, Blonde Man finally got his TV Championship back, winning a dramatic Texas Death Match. Meanwhile, Brownie and Stephen Jenkins quickly gained stature in the Tag Team Division and worked their way to a shot at Easter HeAT in April, facing off against Deadman & The AshTaker. After some excellent in-ring work, the duo captured the belts and Team EV now had all the gold they could wish for. Times were going strong.
But there was tension in the camp. And this tension came to ahead at Against All Odds, when Brownie & Jenkins suffered a complete lack of communication, and after losing the Tag Team Championships in a match with veterans The Rogerz, Blonde Man drilled Jenkins with the TV Championship belt. Jenkins was out of the faction, despite his manager Hayley Holder's best efforts. And the tension boiled over on one of the most infamous episodes of TWF television. On July 14th's episode of Grit BasH, during a scheduled match between Deadman and Blonde Man, Brownie hit the ring to aid his brother, but was followed up by Jenkins, who wanted to get even for the events of a few weeks ago, when suddenly, Karl & Jason Davies hit the ring with Holly. There and then, after a brutal beat down, she announced that The Jocks have arrived in the Total Wrestling Federation. Jenkins however found comfort in the formation of a new faction, the Allied Powers, which featured Deadman, J-Fox and The Protégé, all men who had been targeted by The Jocks in the following weeks.
Team EV continued to dominate, and at Summer Break V, Brownie won the rights to Hayley Holder's services in a match against Jenkins. Although Holder won a match a month later to relieve her of the duties, it was an important victory for the brothers against their former ally. The Team then found themselves caught up in Holly's quest to get her hands on the contract of the most impressive monster in federation history, Hades. After Hades won the TWF Television Championship, an even larger bulls eye was placed on his back. But in 2005, the duo re-opened old wounds, taking on Mr. BIG and NJS in a series of amazing matches for the TWF Tag Team Championship that remain favourites in the eyes of many fans, including the first Last Ride and Gas Chamber matches in TWF history.
When the TWF returned in 2007, so did Team EV and they engaged in a vicious war with Marz. This lead to Marz & Mr. BIG's reunion under FX colours at No Way BacK that year, marking their first tag team appearance in over 5 years and the cancelled tag team match from the first TWF pay-per-view finally took place. The Team remained a devoted part of the Jocks stable, following Holly in all of her plans during this time, including doing whatever they could to destroy Marz, leading Team EV to get Marz (falsely) arrested. Marz took his revenge at Summer Break VIII, teaming with hardcore legend The Sandman to finally beat down the Team. Slowly, Team EV realised that despite being the most prominent members of the Jocks family, they were not treated as such, especially by their manager. After a loss at Dangerously Serious : 2007, months of turmoil ended when the duo hit Holly with a Double Karate Kick and left their Jocks letterman jackets on top of her, signalling their departure from the faction to the delight of their fans. Team EV then returned to prominence in the tag team division, having some highly-rated matches with Technically Superior (Disturbed & Zero), who many thought were their natural successors in the TWF Tag Team division. However, the brother's passion for rugby league was also showing through at this time and the urge to excel at the sport lead to a tough decision. When they lost the Tag Team Championships, they would leave professional wrestling. After a tremendous Square Ladder Match at Summer Break IX, Team EV bid farewell to the TWF and such was the strength of feeling between two rival teams that Disturbed and Zero gave Blonde Man and Brownie a guard of honour as they left ringside.
Despite many fans clambering for their return, the Team remains in exile. In October 2008, the Evans twins signed professional contracts with Super League side the Warrington Wolves, and both Blonde Man and Brownie are concentrating on their rugby careers, whilst also being interested in their personal relationships, with both men having long-term partners. Such is the strength of feeling from the fans that Team EV were voted the Tag Team of the Decade at the TWF Tenth Anniversary Awards in 2009. The two men accepted the award but stated that their heart was in their new endeavours and that a return to the ring was not in the foreseeable future. It is incredibly likely, however, that the duo will one day return to the TWF - when their accepted into the TWF Hall of Fame, which everyone has admitted is inevitable.
