The Z‐Pack has arguably become the biggest and well‐known faction in TWF history, known for the drama that it's members have caused with only one constant member since it's foundation: Mr. BIG.
The history of the Z‐Pack began right when the TWF began. The Z‐Pack was a way to outsmart the Young Age Outlaws and it's members Triple J (now The Terminator), A‐Pac (now The AshTaker) and AJ Jeffers. The members in the beginning of the Z Pac as they were called; were Red Dragon, NJS (who was referred to as "Chick" Job‐Smith by the Red Dragon as a source of much humour) and Mr. BIG. However, at No Way Out 2000, the TWF's very first PPV, in what fans still regard as one of the most shocking moments in TWF history, Mr. BIG and NJS turned on Marz and the following night, announced that they had formed Future‐Generation X. As it turns out however, FX kept the spirit of the Z‐Pack alive, especially when Marz (then called Dead Cool) joined the group in late‐2000.
The Z‐Pack members went their separate ways, until late March 2002. Marz, Mr. BIG and The Shott became sick of the games that BCW, The BoyZ's spiritual successor, were playing on the TWF. So, the three men successfully drove BCW apart, only for them to return as the bPa days later. Marz then left the TWF for the first time, leaving the Z‐Pack dormant as Mr. BIG and The Shott teamed up under their original tag team name, Team No Fear, for a short while. That was until Mr. BIG finally brought back in his best friend NJS. In October 2002, Frekishi and The Sandman were extended invites to join the Z‐Pack, and they complied, making the faction a five‐piece for the first time. It didn't last that long however, as The Shott turned on his Z‐Pack buddies at The End is Nigh, in the process revealing his love for the bPa's "luscious" female leader Sarah and Frekishi re‐joined the bPa. For the second time, the Z‐Pack became just a three man team.
The three men then became two, when The Sandman announced his retirement from the business. The Z‐Pack struggled for a while as a duo although in their later careers, Biggie and NJS would become superstars as the duo. Biggie eventually added a third powerful member in High Voltage. HV formed a deadly partnership with Mr. BIG and with NJS's Cruiserweight‐like abilities. Even if the Z‐Pack's member's career directions would take them elsewhere, they were always united against the bPa. At No Way BacK, Holly sensationally screwed Stone Kold Karl Davies in his match with Mr. BIG and joined the Z‐Pack and would manage the faction. Originally, the two's relationship was strictly business, unlike NJS and Lita, who actually got married in May 2004. But, feelings quickly got in the way, and High Voltage got jealous of the couple and left the Z‐Pack in May 2003. The Bandit also was made a member of the faction in March 2003 when he came to the TWF and suffered a disagreement with the BPA.
The Z‐Pack unit still functioned, even if it was at a slightly lower rate. HV was retired by Biggie at Against All Odds, but was brought back by him the following week after the appearance of Seek and Destroy. The Z‐Pack took more of a back‐seat when the Rebels with Attitude and Seek and Destroy waged holy war over the TWF in late‐2003 to early‐2004. But, during this time, Biggie enlisted the help of two buddies from his XWF dayz, The Bandit and JT Money. The Z‐Pack in that form existed for almost 3 years, the most stable and popular Z‐Pack line‐up ever, even though Bandit & JT were better known as The Sadist Nation, their loyalty to Biggie and NJS was unquestioned. The Z‐Pack's popularity hit it's peak when Mr. BIG and NJS teamed up under that name, becoming TWF Tag Team Champions at Summer Break IV, and having a mammoth reign as champions. The duo's promos become the stuff of legend, and the Z‐Pack are still considered one of the TWF's greatest tag teams of all‐time.
When the TWF returned from it's hiatus in 2006, the Z‐Pack made a dramatic return @ One Night Only, where Mr. BIG came out to answer Holly's calls about "Jock haters". Biggie announced he had two friends who agreed with him on the subject, who turned out to be NJS and "Lover Boy" Jon Bennetta. However, the Z‐Pack name was not referred to for very long, as Biggie and NJS called the new group The Metal Militia. You could argue that the Militia continued the spirit of the Pack, but when both Biggie and NJS were no longer a part of the company in 2008, it closed a momentous chapter in the history of the business.
Eventually, both Mr. BIG and NJS returned to the TWF, but incredibly the two men ran parallel lives. Mr. BIG returned in 2009 and reformed the Militia with Marz and remained as popular as ever. NJS, when he returned in 2008 initially had the backing of the fans, but after turning on his brother Deadman at the top of the House of Pain at Dangerously Serious 2008, had lost the backing of the fans for the first time in his career. NJS claimed that he had decided to put himself first and aligned himself with the Entourage, becoming one of the most dominant TWF World Champions of all-time. But in December 2010, a month after losing the World Championship to the Shott, NJS saw his position change and exhibited signs that the grass was greener on the outside of the Entourage. The two legends were only seen face-to-face once, at PayBacK 2010 - as Biggie was getting treatment after his loss to Eric Herrera, NJS passed him. The two exchanged glances and NJS was to walk off without saying a word until Mr. BIG said "Putting yourself first got you into this mess… it's the only way you will get out of it". Biggie's words proved prophetic, as NJS walked out on his Entourage team-mates in the Devil's Den main event that night, meaning that the glory days for the faction were over as Alexis Polaris's Commissionership was revoked as a result of the match.
NJS had not been seen in the TWF since walking out on the Entourage. Mr. BIG was involved in an explosive feud with Ryan Jenkins and when Genesis, the faction of which Jenkins was a member, told Biggie he would face two of their members in a match where Jenkins was the referee, Biggie told the faction that "Strength in numbers… all you need is two". Biggie would not enter his match alone. Speculation was that the Militia was to reunite on this night, but, it was not to be. As Biggie walked out onto the stage during his entrance, he shook his head in disgust and seemingly walked away. But when he returned, it was after the screen shook and the lights went red, blue and green. Enter Biggie, wearing shades, pointing back at NJS and Lucy Rose – a reunited Z‐Pack for the first time since 2005. The Z‐Pack reunion, in-front of 100,000 strong at the Bridgend Dome has already become one of the greatest moments in TWF history, as the duo showed exactly why they were one of the greatest tag teams in professional wrestling history. When the match ended with the Z‐Pack's arms raised in victory, Marz, who was in attendance as a swerve to Genesis, stood along Mr. BIG and NJS for the first time in their great careers and the trio celebrated with Cherry Cokes, a beautiful moment for every TWF fan.
