TWF Turns Twelve
February 8, 2012 The TWF Arena, Brackla, Bridgend * Warning! *
The following program is a presentation of the Total Wrestling Federation. It will contain strobe lighting effects and sudden loud noises. The program may also contain scenes which could cause offence to some viewers, including children. Viewer Discretion is Advised! For more information, visit TWF.com The show begins with a conductor awaiting to begin an orchestra. Various instruments are being prepared, but when he raises the baton, the music slowly comes in. "In the year 2000, a young organisation tried to change the perception of professional wrestling, not just in the United Kingdom, but in Europe, North America and beyond. In a world that would change incredibly over the following years, one thing remains constant. The TWF is getting better and better". The narrator stops as the music picks up. The next minute or so features the very best moments of the TWF in the last twelve years, with only few pieces of commentary being played over the moments. As the montage ends, the tempo of the piece changes again. The wrestlers, the romance, the betrayals, the celebrations are all shown. As the video draws towards it's conclusion, the narrator concludes "For twelve years, still the best in professional wrestling. Welcome to a new TWF". The conductor finishes his work and the lights go from focusing on the logo of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, who are playing this piece, to a spotlight shining on the TWF logo, which appears on the wall behind them. "Heavy" and the video package that accompanies it, then rolls and the usual TWF Grit BasH intro theme begins. The camera enters the TWF Arena as the opening fireworks and pyro set off. There is nothing different about the Grit BasH set this evening and everything appears as normal. "This maybe a "new" TWF, but for our twelfth birthday, we could be going back to the future! Tonight, in one of the most highly anticipated matches in TWF history, the TWF World Championship will be defended by Jack Beam against the man who built this building, Mr. BIG!" Scott Hudson's introduction certainly wasn't lacking in hyperbole and as Bryan Daniels introduced himself, he stated that the atmosphere around the TWF Arena tonight feels different to everything else he has experienced. Daniels states that the atmosphere feels electric and the crowd are excited to be getting behind one of the TWF's founding fathers tonight, but reminds viewers that Jack Beam has eVo in his corner and if anyone can send this capacity crowd home unhappy tonight, it would be him. Hudson also informs viewers on this extended edition of Grit BasH that we will see three other championship matches, as the Television, Intercontinental and Women's Championships will also be defended tonight. BIGGIE MOMENT 2000 On the debut episode of Wednesday Grit BasH, the TWF World Heavyweight Championship is on the line in the main event, between "The Ice Man" AJ Jeffers and Mr. BIG, with The Red Dragon acting as Special Guest Referee. After Mr. BIG dodges a Sweet Shin Music, BIG throws AJ Jeffers into the turnbuckle, looking for a Firebreathing Dragon. At the last second, Jeffers dodges the move and then rolls up Mr. BIG, getting a fast count from the Red Dragon. Jeffers leaves the ring holding the championship to the delight of the crowd, leaving Mr. BIG enraged. Two nights later, Mr. BIG would get his re-match and win his first World Heavyweight Championship, but the damage from that first night is still very raw and haunts Biggie to this day. ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ Commercial Break ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ [Sky Atlantic HD]: Luck • Admiral • "A Different Kind of Truth" by Van Halen • Subway • Sky 3D [TWF Returns!] BIGGIE MOMENT 2002 Having returned from the United States on March 4, 2002, BIG returned to the TWF to help it get back on top. BIG and Marz's "gonzo" style and crazy promos endeared the team to fans, especially against their vicious rivals, High Voltage and The Shott, who were both protégés of the two men. At WrestleMania 3 in May 2002, BIG would finally get his match for the World Championship against both HV and champion Shott in a Hardcore Three Way match. Unfortunately, the match is best remembered for the storyline that played up the sexual tension between HV and the Shott. BIG was crowned champion by the match's special guest referee, Marz and the duo celebrated with Cherry Cokes and Budweisers. BIGGIE MOMENT 2004 Mr. BIG and High Voltage have one of the TWF's most storied and brutal rivalries. The last time the two men met in a one-on-one match was at xWa event Xtreme Overdose in June 2004, in only the second Pyramid Cage match in history. Still remembered as one of the most bloodied and brutal matches in professional wrestling history, the capacity crowd saw one of the most incredible finishes to a World Championship match, as Mr. BIG hit High Voltage with an Electric Shock from the top of a ladder. BIG would climb the ladder and become the first (and so far, only), five-time TWF World Champion. BIG would lose the title a month or so later to Marz in an intense and controversial match at Newbridge Fields, which would also be remembered as the foundation of the Triad (later Rat Pack) collective. ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ Video Package ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐
After an incredibly emotional video package, the camera pans the TWF Arena to huge cheers. Quickly however, the cheers turn into insanely loud chants of "B‐I‐G! B‐I‐G! B‐I‐G!". The chants get louder and louder, allowing the anticipation to build and build. Bryan Daniels says one word which sums up this sensational atmosphere: "Wow". The drums come in and the TWF Arena ERUPTS. As the guitar comes in on "Perfect Insanity", so does the pyro and with that, the riser appears from beneath the stage. BAM! Mr. BIG keeps his head down for a little longer than usual, but a creeping smile appears before he lifts his head up and steps off the riser to an INCREDIBLE roar from the crowd. Unusually, Mr. BIG walks down to the ring and doesn't high‐five or slap the hands of any fans, but this does not anger those in the front row, who instead cheer a little louder as Biggie stops before climbing the ring steps to shout "It's time!". Karli Andrews attempts to introduce Mr. BIG, but cannot be heard over the noise being made in the arena, which legitimately rivals that of an air plane on takeoff. Biggie does not break with tradition once he enters the ring however, and climbs each of the turnbuckles with smiles on his face, noticing some long‐time TWF fans. Hudson tells viewers "He wouldn't want this any other way. The old school fans, the ones who were here at the very beginning and chanted ‐ not "Biggie! Biggie!" ‐ but "B‐I‐G!", those followers of Mr. BIG who still truly believe he is "The Only One", are making up this crowd tonight. This moment and this night belongs to them as much as it belongs to BIG himself". Daniels cuts in as Biggie climbs down from the final turnbuckle and removes the shirt he wore over his t‐shirt of choice for tonight, asking Hudson if BIG is prepared for the outcome he foresees, that he leaves the TWF Arena empty handed, which is incredibly likely. Hudson notes that Mr. BIG last became the TWF World Champion in 2004 and since then has only faced the World Champion once. Daniels quickly interjects "And guess what, we're all supposed to forget about that because he LEFT, yes LEFT, this company after he lost. People have told me all week that the odds are stacked against Jack Beam, but honestly, the odds are stacked against Mr. BIG. The last time he tried to be the #1 Contender in 2010, he got his ass beaten by the greatest brawler of his generation. And he's facing an all‐rounder tonight. He doesn't have a prayer." Hudson turns to Daniels with a look of total disdain on his face and says "If Mr. BIG were to win this tonight, he proves the doubters wrong once again". Daniels, sensing an opportunity to seriously annoy Hudson, jumps on the wording of his sentence "Even you say, "IF"! Even your confidence is misplaced!". Hudson shrugs his shoulders and simply gives up. "Hehe, come wit' me". As the guitar riff comes in this time, the crowd all turns to the entrance way and boos LOUDLY. "New School" Jack Beam walks out into the arena and stops at the top of the ramp, looking a little apprehensive as he does so. He soaks up the boos for a moment before turning to the camera right in front of him and says, straight down it and with some authority, "Let's do this". Beam walks quickly down to the ring and rolls into the ring, with Mr. BIG watching every move from his corner of the ring. Beam forgoes his usual pre‐match rituals and simply raises the TWF World Championship in the air. Karli Andrews remains in the ring and as Beam takes his corner, begins to make the introductions. "Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is your main event, and it is scheduled for one fall. This match will be for the Total Wrestling Federation World Championship and will feature no disqualifications, no count outs… and no time limit, therefore a winner must be determined here this evening!" (The announcement of no time limit, meaning the return of the former World Title introduction for the first time since Beam forced the rule change, is met with a loud ovation). Andrews continues: "Introducing first, the challenger". The crowd erupts. "From… Brackla, Bridgend… weighing in at 265 pounds… MISTTERRRRRRRRR BIG!". At this point, Mr. BIG simply steps out of his corner, and the crowd goes completely wild again. Hudson remarks "We've sat at this table in front of 100,000 people, yet this is the loudest and most passionate TWF crowd I have ever known". "And his opponent… " (the crowd jeers furiously) "representing eVo; from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; weighing 229 pounds… he is the current, reigning and de‐fending Total Wrestling Federation World Champion… the "King" of New School… JACKKKKK BEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAMMMMMM!". Beam heads to the centre of the ring once more and raises the World Championship a little higher than the previous occasion, before handing the belt over to the match official, Chief Referee, Kevin Poole. Poole raises the belt in the air and Hudson proclaims "And this is what it's all about. The most coveted prize in professional wrestling." Karli leaves the ring and takes the belt with her. Poole quickly checks over both men, with the crowd's anticipation gathering with every single second the two competitors stand in their corners. Poole turns to the bell keeper and waves his hands, which causes a loud cheer. Beam lifts BIG up on his shoulders and attempts to hit the BluRay Driver, but Biggie forces his way off. BIG hits Beam with a kick to the gut, looking for either the TM DDT or BIG Storm, but Beam has it covered, throwing BIG into the ropes. Beam follows up with a gut kick of his own, going for the New School Expulsion, but Biggie also counters, hitting the first part of the Coriolis Effect again, but Beam counters it into the New School Expulsion! Daniels states "Biggie went back to the well too many times! It's over!". Beam leaps over Mr. BIG's shoulders and the crowd boos loudly, sensing the end of the match. Poole hits the mat twice, but Biggie puts his shoulder up the last possible moment before a three count. Beam is irate and corners Poole, stating that BIG's shoulders were down. Beam shakes his head and says to Poole "Alright, you missed it first time, you won't a second time." Biggie slowly stumbles to his feet, with fans screaming for him to watch out, as Beam sets up another New School Expulsion. Biggie realises his mistake from the first time and gets out of the move and uncharacteristically throws Beam into the turnbuckle. The crowd EXPLODES! Biggie then realises what position he has and he gets into the opposite corner to a loud roar. BIG charges at Beam and hits him with a Firebreather and fans can be heard on the microphones around at ringside to be screaming "Come on!". Hudson throws away what little impartiality he had left to shout "Finish him off!". Daniels turns to Hudson once more and says "I knew it! I knew it!". Beam stumbles out of the corner and Biggie has an assured look on his face as he hits Beam with a gut kick, but instead of following up with the BIG Storm, raises Beam up! The crowd goes INSANE! Daniels gasps at the announce table. "Oh no!" Hudson puts the punctuation mark on the move ‐ "SUDDEN… DEATH… SYNDROME!". As Beam hits the mat, the crowd has gone completely ape shit. BIG slowly rolls over Beam's shoulders and the crowd shouts loudly as Poole hits the canvas: ONE… TWO… … … … THREE! The camera shot pans to one of the TWF Arena's roof and the shot can clearly be seen to be shaking with the noise and movement being made. "YES! YES! YES!" said one jubilant announcer. "NO! NO! NO! This was not how it was supposed to end!" said the other. Karli Andrews leaps out of her seat and makes the announcement heard around the world: "Here is your winner… … … AND NEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW TOTAL WRESTLING FEDERATION WORLD CHAMPION, MMMMMMISSSSSSSTTTTTEERRRRRRRR BIG!". Beam rolls out of the ring and stumbles to his feet, with Kevin Poole asking if he needs assistance. Beam slowly comes around after the devastating move. BIG sits up on the canvas and looks around ringside as "Perfect Insanity" plays. The crowd is cheering loudly, applauding. Biggie then appears to make up for not slapping the fan's hands earlier, by jumping into one section of the crowd, with several fans celebrating loudly with him. Most of those fans are wearing older Mr. BIG t‐shirts, and Biggie has a massive group hug with them. Biggie slowly jumps back over the guard rail and poses on the ring apron for a little while. Jack Beam looks on from halfway up the ramp as Kevin Poole walks back down the aisle. Biggie goes back into the ring and stands in the middle of it, with his hands on his waist and the crowd simply adoring him. Biggie looks almost embarrassed. Kevin Poole eventually re‐enters the ring and finally raises Mr. BIG's hand in victory. Biggie soaks up the moment before Scott Hudson states "And he did indeed make it six", as this victory makes Mr. BIG the first six‐time World Champion in TWF history. Poole walks over to Karli Andrews, who still has the TWF World Championship belt. She comes up onto the apron, but BIG asks her into the ring. "Perfect Insanity" slowly fades. Jack Beam turns around from the top of the ramp and looks back as Andrews adjusts the straps of the belt to hand it over to Kevin Poole. Poole takes the belt in his hands and presents it to Mr. BIG. BIG looks at the belt for a moment or two as Beam shouts from the top of the ramp "You stole MY title!". Biggie finally smiles and says "Welcome home old friend", before he takes the belt into his hands. BIG raises the belt to a huge cheer. Biggie then unstraps the belt and places it over his shoulder as Poole raises his hand. The crowd continues to cheer loudly as "Perfect Insanity" restarts. Jack Beam, sensing now is not his time, walks slowly behind the curtain, knowing that despite his incredible effort, his reign will not continue. BIG looks around the crowd once more and drops to his knees. Biggie places the World Championship across the centre of the ring and begins bowing to the crowd, which allows the crowd to stop cheering for a moment and for them to applaud him instead. Slowly, the loud cheers turn into a standing ovation. The sight of so many fans standing and clapping his incredible performance is what finally makes Mr. BIG's bottom lip quiver, and a solitary tear begins to roll down his face as he continues to say "Sit down! Sit down!". Succumbing to the fact that the crowd simply will not sit back down, Mr. BIG climbs the turnbuckle to pose with the World Championship belt. Biggie turns his head back towards the timekeeper's table and makes his famous drinking motion. For the first time in many months, Cherry Coke cans are being thrown across the ring. After a torrid time emotionally and personally over the past two years, it finally appears that Mr. BIG is at peace with himself. Biggie delights the crowd by making the cans clash, drenching those in the front rows. BIG then finishes his beverage before climbing to the opposite turnbuckle and repeating the sequence. Finally, Biggie climbs out of the ring and completes the one part of his ring entrance that he negated to complete prior to the match. BIG walks slowly around the ring, slapping the hands of many fans, with several long‐time fans and friends gaining hugs or fist bumps. "Perfect Insanity" begins to loop around once more as Biggie completes his walk around. As the credit roll is about to begin, BIG stands at the bottom of the ramp and holds the TWF World Championship aloft to a roar from the crowd. [End of Show] |
