About the Total Wrestling Federation
The Total Wrestling Federation originally started in 2000 as the Tremains Wrestling Federation, with a group of school friends who were likewise interested in professional wrestling at the time. Much of the early TWF is based around the matches and storylines plotted in the back of school classes, in playgrounds and school yards. These storylines and much of the TWF's "Jurassic period" (pre-2002) are a mish-mash of real matches, video game matches and crazy ideas we all came up with. By the end of 2000, the setting had changed to a larger school and more people became involved. Despite a lull in mid-2001, the TWF continued to grow until it was at it's biggest in 2002, during which the first official "Golden Period" occurred. The TWF Forums were drawing thousands of hits on a daily basis and became a hive of activity, with topics outside of the world of professional wrestling being discussed. In July 2002, the forums were mysteriously deleted in what was described as an "inside job" by disgruntled TWF members. In October 2002, the forums were re-launched on the servers that hosted them for almost seven years. Around this time, actual organised matches stopped taking place as a result of professional wrestling falling from the mainstream popularity that drew in the original participants. The fan fiction/fantasy booking side, which initially started in mid-2000 and is what these pages contain, continued and became a larger success than the real matches, with similar promotions formed by like-minded fans then being created, often to antagonise the TWF. For the best part of 3 years, the TWF continued to be on a roll, alongside XCW, an organisation that was also formed out of the ashes of the 2002 forum hack. In 2005, with real life commitments getting in the way and the love of professional wrestling on the wane, the TWF was closed. For the best part of 18 months, despite rumblings and requests, there was no return. But in 2007, citing "a TWF-sized hole" in life, the company returned in the form you see it today. The TWF is not an e-fed and never has been. There was an attempt at spinning-off the company into an e-fed in late 2002 when the TWF moved from ProBoards/SuddenLaunch to a different web host, but it never got off the ground. About the Man Behind the TWF Portraying Mr. BIG, his favourite wrestlers include The Rock, Bret Hart, Sting and CM Punk. He often spends his free time watching old WWF, WCW, TNA (pre-Russo) and ROH video tapes or clips. When not updating the TWF action, he is a huge sports fan, loves hard rock and heavy metal music, Cherry Coke and Italian food. |
