(POSSIBLE) *SPOILERS* WWE No Mercy Review

Here is my review of last night's No Mercy PPV...
If you have not seen No Mercy don't want to know the results, then please go back or you WILL be disapointed.

Opening Video
The opening video was reasonably good actually. I managed to catch a bit of The UnderTaker and Kane sitting down and talking, but I must have been settling down in my seat at that point.

The Set and Fireworks
The Set was pretty good, although I don't know why the WWE takes the piss out of the old Raw set but yet never uses it...hmm...

World Tag-Team Championship
Chris Jericho & Christian vs. Booker T & Goldust

This was one of the best matches of the night. Although towards the end in what must have been a botched spot, whilst Jericho attempted a Lionsault, the middle rope 'exploded'. Jericho did nail Goldust with the Bulldog and then went up top for a Moonsault and scored the victory.
Winners: Jericho & Christian via Pinfall

Torrie Wilson vs. Dawn Marie
SDs first match shocked me in a good way. Remember when Trish took on Stephanie at No Way Out 2001? That match was AWESOME! I mean Steph couldn't exactly wrestler and until that point Trish was in the WWF just for photo oppertunities.
Torrie and Dawn contested a good match, and Torrie scored a victory and shouting after the match 'That's for my Dad'.
Winner: Torrie Wilson via Pinfall
Worth noting that a rather long-drawn out segment between Al Wilson and Funaki took place prior to this match, with Al taking the piss out of former US President Clinton with 'I didn't have sex with that woman'. And wrestling amnesia attack - how come Funaki knows fluent English when about a year ago all he could say was 'Indeed'? Anyway...

Rob Van Dam vs. Ric Flair
Hmm...this match was mediocre by Rob's standards, nt heped by him wrestling a 50-year man who really should have retired about 5 years ago.
Flair and Van Dam did a rather exciting match, with RVD winning via The 5-Star.
Winner: Rob Van Dam via pinfall

We go backstage now, where The Big Show is talking to Stephanie McMahon. Of course, Easy E walks by and demands to know what is going on. Show explains by saying that he hasn't wrestled on PPV since July and hasn't main evented a PPV in god knows how long. Show grabs Eric by the throat and demands that he main events soon or there will be hell to pay.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Jamie Noble (C) w. / Nidia vs. Tajiri

Again, another excellent contest provided here, and it looks like Tajiri will be turning face soon, considering Rey Mysterio is gonna be feuding with the Heavyweights for a while.
Towards the end the match got very interesting, but Nidia helps lever Jamie after a powerbomb and Noble retains.
Winner: Jamie Noble via pinfall
Post-Match, Tajiri slaps a Figure Four Liplock on Nidia, which she loves to Jamie's dismay. Jamie tells Tajiri that he will show how it's done. Jamie just starts and Tajiri nails him with a thunderously Kick of Death before walking up the ramp to a big Pop.

Backstage we go once more, where Eddie Guerrero thinks he is being duked by Benoit after what happened to Benoit on SmackDown! 2 weeks ago. Benoit says Chavo is being attack by Angle. Eddie doesn't sell and when Chavo DOES get thrown out of the room, the crowd cheers. Benoit and Angle are finally a team!

Winner Take All Match
World Champion Triple H vs. IC Champion Kane

This match was excellent. Prior to the match, they showed the IC Title History video from Raw.
Flair stuck his nose in this one, but down came Hurricane and evened the score.
But, Triple H, aided by his trusty sledgehammer scores the victory using The Pedigree.
Winner: Triple H via pinfall
Bye-Bye IC Title. (But it will be back soon enough I bet)

SmackDown GM Stephanie McMahon, who recently contucted a very revealing interview on Howard Stern's show is in her room when Tracy enters. Tracy says that what Heyman said is a load of bollocks and says that he was lying about the affair. Bad timing love, Taker enters the room and Tracy gets thrown out by Stephanie.

WWE Tag-Team Championship
Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit vs. Rey Mysterio & Edge

Match of the Night. No question. This was unbelieveable, enough Michael Cole kept on saying history will be made when they create the first ever WWE Tag-Team Champs. So, uh, what were the World Tag-Titles called before the GMs took over ay smart arse?
Angle makes Edge tap to the Anklelock, and Kurt and Chris recieve the 'handsome' new blue tag-team championship belts.
Winners: Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit via Submission
*Note:* Angle has now become the 6th member of the Grand Slam Club, joining Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Chris Jericho and Kane. Kane didn't win the European Title, but did win The Hardcore an I'm told that counts...

WWE Women's Championship
Victoria vs. Trish Stratus

Not too special here. Victoria and all her talk couldn't match Trish's wrestling skills and Trish walks away with the gold once more.
Winner: Trish Stratus via pinfall

[u]WWE Championship
Hell-in-a-Cell
Brock Lesnar w. / Paul Heyman vs. The Undertaker

This was a MAJOR disapointment. This is a HIAC match god damn it, and there was NO BUMP?! That's only the second time in history we've no bump in a HIAC match. (The other time was Taker/Bossman at WMXV).
Lesnar wins using the F5 and retains.
Winner: Brock Lesnar via pinfall
After the match, in a very TWF-esque moment; Lesnar climbs the cell and poses with his belt as the broadcast goes off air.
Pitty you didn't climb the cell during the match Brock...

A very disapointing end to a rather good PPV in general. I just hope Rebellion is better than this.

Overall rating: 6.5/10
