The RWF has had a chequered past to say the least, being both an enemy and ally of the TWF during the time of the wars against TECW/NCW. Setup by High Voltage and The Shott in April 2002, the RWF was originally best known for a troop of Superstars that invaded the TWF and attempted to destroy it, citing Marz & Mr. BIG's dominance of the TWF as an excuse to try and turn the tide. HV & The Shott attempts were fruitless and the RWF held a few small shows before it folded.
However, in 2003, with the xWa trying to find a third member, it was the RWF that eventually returned, as a joint venture between the Alliance and the RWF's original owners, HV & Shott. The xWa's involvement allowed the RWF to find a TV slot on the Extreme Sports channel of an hour on Thursdays, and it would hold a monthly pay-per-view. All shows emanated from the Rhys Reed Entertainment Centre in Wick at first, but the company's first ever PPV offering, World Domination, took place to a half-full Millennium Stadium, which was some achievement for a promotion of this size. After some poorly booked shows however, on July 10 2003, The Shott walked out of the RWF and gave his ownership stake to Voltage. Voltage was stumped for what to do and the RWF disappeared once more. It made a brief reappearance around a month later, which it later emerged, was a show booked by Mr. BIG and was heralded as the RWF's best show so far. After this show, despite countless efforts once more by HV to re-start the company, he sold the company to the xWa and it died once more. In 2004, Ben Shottle bought back the RWF with the intention of re-starting the company later in 2004. However, like other efforts, it was more talk than effort and succeeded in only angering Voltage to such a degree that he left wrestling altogether. The RWF's final renaissance came in March 2005 when Mr. BIG decided that he wanted to promote some shows featuring those wrestlers who only wanted to wrestle occasionally rather than on a TWF-style schedule. He used his own money to buy the RWF name and brought back the RWF champions. He secured a slot once every month on a Saturday or Sunday for the RWF events which would be two hour supershows. Amazingly on his first event, Mr. BIG turned over enough of a profit to cover the debts the RWF made in it's first venture. The biggest shock of the first show back was the announcement of former RWF owner as the company's new Commish. The new RWF grew stronger and stronger and was suddenly faced with a roadblock. Disgruntled federation Porthcawl Championship Wrestling invaded the RWF proclaiming the company stole it's niche market. The two companies traded shots back and fourth until August 2005, when like the TWF, the RWF stopped holding events. Speculation was rife that the RWF's return would be hand-in-hand with the return of the TWF, but despite much talk, this has yet to happen. But confirmation came in September 2007 that the company would return in February 2008, however this did not occur. It was eventually announced that the company would return in 2009. On May 31, 2009, the RWF's return was officially announced at a press conference at TWF Towers by Mr. BIG, who told fans that the RWF's 2005 format would return of monthly shows being aired live on the xWn. He announced a card for World Domination and that he had selected a new commissioner for the promotion, which he would announce at the event. World Domination received a negative reaction as many felt it would just be a watered down TWF, so although a second event was planned, Mr. BIG decided to cancel it, leaving the RWF to be officially closed forever.
