Summer Break History

Back when the TWF was in it's infancy in the year 2000, the creative team struggled with an event to base the whole year around, like WCW had Starrcade and the WW(F)E had WrestleMania. The idea was to hold it at a time no other promotion would hold a major event. September? June? The team settled for August.
The idea that the team struggled with the most however was a name. Many ideas were tossed around, before one was agreed...Summer Break.
The first Summer Break was going to be held somewhere exotic. Somewhere to show off the TWF. The TWF eventually agreed a deal to hold the first 2 Summer Breaks at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas. On the site on one of the world's biggest hotels, the arena perhaps best associated with Boxing, was going to be turned into a Mecca for the TWF fans. Only dedicated fans were expected to make the trip, but the event was in so much demand that almost half the arena was filled with British fans. The 20,000 seater arena was brimmed to capacity when the very first TWF Summer Break was held on August 20th 2000. Highlights of the event included Kevin Kelly upsetting Owen Carl, The Demon defeating The Sheriff in a Ladder Match and Mr. BIG's face turn at the expense of Real Deal Murphy. Mr. BIG, the TWF Champion, turned a curve that night, and the TWF has not stopped since.
Some fans got a taste of deja-vu, when as expected on March 9th 2001, the TWF announced they would be returning to Vegas and the Grand for Summer Break 2001. This Summer Break however, will go down as one of the most controversial...backstage. Marz Holly, now known as Marz, was at the time pulling the TWF strings and for the first time since UnCeNsOrEd in July 2000 did a TWF World Title Match not Main Event a PPV...and this was Summer Break! The match went through and Marz won the match. But the fans will best remember the TWF World Heavyweight Championship match between Mr. BIG and High Voltage. The first Double Tables Match in TWF History saw both men put on an epic performance, which got a standing ovation as they left.
Summer Break 2002 was determined to go down as an awesome event. The MGM was planning to host the event, but ticket demands were so high that the event was moved to one of the biggest arenas in North America, The Superdome in New Orleans. The Stadium with the most NFL Super Bowl's to it's credit was sold out in under 2 hours for the event. 82,047 sold out the Superdome for one of the best events of the year. Many surprising elements were added to the event this year. XWF and VWF Legend Ottobomb made his only TWF Appearance to date in a Fatal 4 Way Hell in a Cell Match for the Intercontinental Championship, which saw NJS go out on top. Marz was also injured by an angry High Voltage and Mr. BIG, who 'Double-D'ed him off the top of a ladder through 2 tables. Marz's injuries were so severe, he was unable to make an in-ring return until Cyberslam in May 2003. Mr. BIG upheld his undefeated record in Summer Break Main Events, pinning High Voltage in a Fatal Five Way match to become the very first Undisputed TWF World Heavyweight Champion. The TWF World Heavyweight Championship was the TWF and RWF Belts combined, however, the original TWF World Championship belt, which was bought by Mr. BIG after the Total Chaos fiasco was re-introduced as the championship belt and the RWF Belt will be brought back at RWF World Domination tomorrow night (June 29th 2003).
And so to this year. It is well documented that the NCW Dome, which will soon be renamed the McArthurGlen Dome, was supposed to hold the event, but Marz, the NCW Chairman, refused to negotiate a deal with the TWF, so the TWF went ahead and announced The Bridgend Dome as the venue for this year's spectacular. The Bridgend Dome is nearing completion, and will be home to the TWF Hall of Fame and will occasionally play host to Bridgend Blue Wings and Sarn Snakes SWHL Matches. Some sources say that The Bridgend Dome will play host to Games 5, 6 and 7 of SWHL Wokeafeinig Cup Matches if necessary and the SWHL All-Star Game aside from TWF Events. Entertainment will be supplied in the form of top recording artists Disturbed, Saliva, Trust Company, Linkin Park, S Club 8, Busted and Motorhead. Also performing their favourite comedy sketches and their own acts in the middle of a TWF Ring will be Peter Kay, Vic Reeves, Bob Mortimer, Johnny Vegas, Ricky Gervais and The Goodness Gracious Me! Team. August 19th 2003. A Date for diaries. A Date With Fate. 100,000 People inside The Bridgend Dome. All of which will be part of the Summer Break experience. And there's no other experience like it. Period.
